How do you exclude an image from a gallery in WordPress?
It’s not that hard once you know where to find the details. Here’s a step-by-step guide to remove an image from a WordPress gallery:

Add a gallery
Click the “Edit Image” icon that appears when you hover over a photo.
Click the “Advanced Settings” tab
Note the number in the CSS Class field

In this case: alignnone size-full wp-image-3237

Close the edit image window. (don’t change anything)
Click on the HTML tab of your post editor
Enter the code below after gallery and before link.

{gallery exclude=”3250″ link=”file” order=”DESC” columns=”5″ orderby=”rand”}

That’s it! It’s frustrating if you don’t know where to find that image id number.

How to Disable Control + Click on Mac

If you use any of the pc version of the Adobe Creative Suite on your mac you’ve no doubt run into this issue. When trying to use the Control key to manipulate things it’s translated to a right click instead. Being that most modern mice have right click functionality for the Mac, it’s kind of silly that this is the default state that VMWare chose for their software. Anyhow, here is how you deactivate it:

VMWare Fusion ->Preferences-> Second Tab (Keyboard & Mouse) -> Disable the option

Mouse cursor moves when typing

This is a pretty unique scenario, but if you are like me you’ve already been throwing stuff, smashing your mouse and pulling your hair out. And, that’s exactly why you found this on google. What was happening was, when I would try to use the spacebar and move a selection in photoshop the mouse cursor would move all over the place sporadically. I didn’t really notice it too much when I was in other applications because I would typically be typing with two hands and not moving the mouse.

So, if you started up bootcamp to run windows in fullscreen and then switched back to the mac side while it booted, it’s likely on another desktop asking you to log in. For some reason it doesn’t act like a second desktop until you are actually logged in to windows. When I switched over to windows from lion there was literally a paragraph of random letters in the password field and there were multiple pop-ups asking me to change my password.

This is the second time this has happened to me, so I’m assuming it has happened to someone else out there. I hope this helps you, if it does let me know.

How to watch 3D TV at home for cheap!

So, after all of this hype about 3D TV I decided to give it a go. And, I’m glad I did. I was just watching some of the March Madness in 3D on ESPN and felt like I was there at the court. Pretty cool.

Here’s what was needed for my current setup:

3D Capable TV
I had purchased a 65″ Samsung DLP LED TV a few years ago that is 3D ready, so that saved me some big bucks off the top. Most TV’s purchased in the past 3 years are 3D capable, they just don’t tell you about that so you buy a new one.

Sony PS3™ (with PS3™ system software version 3.60 or later) That version has support for HDMI 1.4 (3D)

Direct TV (Direct TV has about 5 channels dedicated to showing 3D content)

HDMI Cable (only way to carry the signal)

TRU3D Mitsubishi 3D Adapter Kit (Samsung and Mitsubishi have the same 3D signal) $549 (google Tru3D, they pop up first)

Now I’m playing Gran Turismo 5 in 3D on my PS3™ and watching 3D content on Direct TV.

Scrubby Zoom!? Seriously?

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why Adobe insists on changing how basic tools work in every new version of photoshop. Seriously, what the heck were they thinking with the new scrubby zoom option? Since as long as I can remember you just hold cmd + space bar & drag a marquee to zoom in to a particular portion of a photo. After a couple weeks of trying to get used to the new click and “scrubby” I decided to search on the web to get my old zoom tool back. Turns out it’s just an option and can be set back to normal by just unchecking the scrubby zoom box.
